this is not something out of the normal. as the frame passes through your router it strips off the frae and then adds its own frame.

i have a rather interseting problem with internet explorer. it will only let me save images as .bmp files which i really hate. anyone else had this problem or have a solution?

i dont have any server services facing the outside world. if i did run any server type software on that box i would not be so stupid to leave a null admin password.

no i didnt miss the point. i realize that the shares in itself are not a security risk. but combined with the null admin pass it is a security risk. hell a null admin pass in itself is NOT a security...

i tried the 2 exploits for k-otik.net on my stock kernel slack 9.1 box. one of them just seg faulted and the other asm one crashed. my friend wtih slack 9.1 also tried this and the same effects.

i'm installing proftpd and i do ./configure and everything is okay. now i hit make and it does ./configure again. towards the end its creating all needed files and then it does ./configure --recheck...

well as far as i know tcp wrappers take in all types data then filters it. so it sits in front of the damien and listens for all connections. someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

it may be due to messed up isp because i know my isp has problems. for one thing my dns and rdns dont go together. but then again i have had this happen on dial up modems on all sorts of ISPs
