Nope, checked the headers and it is a legit email and business. I'm a contractor you see and this is an agency I don't want or need to deal with. I can see how they could have got my email address...

Excellent, received my first email virus in three years today thanks to this little bugger :D No way have I the confidence or spare box to play with it though ;) Best thing about it is finding out...

Have you any idea what sort of crisis that would bring to a bank? I've worked in banks for years and you suffer the odd system outage and that brings on MAJOR panic in some departments.

Sounds interesting. Although as it's searches for email addresses it sounds as if either a machine at the bank is infected or a third party network is infected as not many Joe and Josephine Bloggs...

It's not a specific thing to the payload though(?) ...although I don't know if it's been fully dissected yet. Does this mean we are seeing a HUGE number of infections?

My site goes though too many changes too often. I've used the majority of CMS's and have settled (for present) on using Moveable Type.
I, like you, had toyed with writing my own CMS/Blog...

I spend a lot of time online, and something just doesn't "feel" right today. Okay some server a little way down the line may be having a bad day, but a check at the Internet Storm Centre shows a...

Nope, and I don't expect to be. I keep my security updated and current and I never open anything if I don't know exactly what it is and where it's come from.

You aren't suggesting that XP has hidden exploits and hasn't been thoroughly tested before being released....are you?
Ohmegosh, and here's me thinking that the patches were for enhanced...

Aeallison, I completely sympathise and I'm afraid to say you'll probably never win with users. It's probably been touched on elsewhere in the forum, so I'll only mention it briefly. The mydoom...

I tend to agree with you. IMHO it's a disasterous thing for Microsoft PR, but I'm not too concerned until I start reading something substantial.
I mean, how in the heck, out of all those millions...

An IE5 exploit tested successfully on Win98....there may have been concern a few years ago :D

Saw that this morning...goody all it takes is for somebody to name a worm microsoft_source_code.zip and all the wannabees get infected again.
I liked this article from the FT

An interesting discussion and one I'm sorry I came a couple of weeks late to.
Spyware and Adware doesn't bother me as I have the filters and checks on (and updated) to ensure I don't see these. ...

True, ZA is very simplistic to use (ideal for home users though). But the new version of ZA Pro does offer you the facility to add custom firewall rules.

I use ZA Pro as well, and similarly have no issues although I have also heard of others not liking it.
I have to be honest, I haven't heard too much about Checkpoint. Looking at the acquisition...

You don't have that problem though, do you?
I'm not sure you could rid it of the problem (if it is a problem and I don't know if it is). If any program "sometimes" corrupts after update then...

Good to have all the information in one place.
I'm looking forward to reading more on DRDoS as that rings bells of concern. Especially interested in preventative measures - although from the...

I've also found that NAV is a bit of a resource hog.
There are a lot of AV programs available now that aren't so system hungry - a lot of them are free. I use Mcafee with no issues. Search the...

Nope, straight up, they are fully working. Lots of disclaimers about "Don't be a bad kiddie" and "Only use these for the purposes of education". The magazine review was hilarious in it's...

Mom/Dad : "Sure honey."

Well specifically for Home concerns I'm not sure that ISS have the right approach (unless they've change it since I last used BlackIce). I'm specifically referring to application control. BlackIce...
