Just thought about that right before I saw your post. Going to decrypt my drive, uninstall symantec, and see if it still beeps. If it does.... not sure what it could be, as a windows reload fixes it...

Long time no post, hope to get some of your great expertise again.
I have a laptop, Dell 6500 series. On it is Windows 7 x64 encrypted with Symantec Endpoint Encryption.
Ran into a problem...

Oh yea, we've had pressure from Microsoft and the server admin, saying 'just because its technically supported doesn't mean it will be functional'
...uh....yea....ok... wtf does supported mean...

That is what I thought too, but the guy administering the offsite server, and Microsoft, both advised against doing that...
Maybe I'll just go ahead and update them to our 2003 policy, which...

Yes, mostly because we have some other software that is not compatible with 2007 or 2010. The rest of our users have been upgraded to 2010 already. Unfortunately, to replace the incompatible software...

Thanks for the link. That method is what I am using to apply the new policy, which greatly increases the number of attempts for 2003 users. Problem is, once I set it, they are still unable to...

After about 30 minutes of letting it sit connecting/disconnected, it finally connected. It must have some sort of time out period, but there has to be a way to flush this manually...

So our mail server got moved offsite, and was upgraded to Exchange 2010 sp1.
Ever since then, we've had issues with the new throttling policy.
Basically, when outlook 2003 is used, exchange 2010...
Just an update.
Downloaded the Vista business with SP2 from Microsoft. I am running the 'upgrade' now. Hoping this fixes my issue. Odd that it will upgrade, but win7 says not enough space...
So i'm in a position where a repair install of Vista is my only option next to doing a clean install of windows 7. I've tried the in place upgrade to windows 7 professional from windows vista...
I was just about to post something, but it kind of relates to this thread, so...
How secure is a solution like Symantec endpoint encryption? Aside from reading the dram, are there easy ways to...

We use Symantec Endpoint protection at work. We are always getting those stupid fake alert programs running on machines, and symantec never stops them or removes them.
So, we are testing a new AV...

Been gone a while..
Anyway, I have a LOT of people in my house right now, all with wireless laptops.
I've seen a HUGE amount of bandwidth used in the past few days (8-16GB a day)...

Forgive my ignorance, but if he's playing a LAN game, there will be more then 1 PC on his network needing ports opened. How would he forward the needed ports to all (both) pc's? I figured port...

A quick link sent via IM or email would accomplish this with very little effort. In my experience, most everyone will click a random link out of sheer bordom if nothing else...
All part of the same domain. Heres the deal. Migrating to a new domain. E-Mail is on the new domain, hence needing the credentials stored. Prior, it was all one pass. Once we move all the computers...

Wow, all those views, and no ideas huh?
Heres what I (we) know so far:
NOT policy related (or shouldn't be, no local policies set, and passwords stick when profile is setup on another...

Well for most folks, it can give you access to quite a bit. See, the avarage joe uses the same username/password on every account they have, or its very similar. So by taking control of something...

No other settings seem to clear out except stored usernames and passwords. I did notice however, when following the above link, that the registry key created when you save a password, is still...

Ok, this is definatly a computer issue, not a user account issue. Setup that same user on another box, no issue.
Next step is to rebuild his windows profile on his current box to see if it can save...

Good idea, but no new policies in quite some time, and no difference in groups between users having the issue and users not having the issue. All users are also local admins in this case as well.

I'm having trouble with saving passwords. For example, when I save a password for Outlook (exchange), then check control keymgr.dll, it shows up in there OK. I restart Outlook, everything is fine. If...
