Not sure if this is what you want, but try this...
watch -n 10 -d ls -l /root/.bash_history
This watch command will run every 10 seconds and display the differences in the bash history file...

Not really. Very easy to listen for a mac address that is allowed and then spoof your mac address to gain access. Use WPA/WPA2 and use a mac address filter list.

We use an HP 9200C. Flawless operation over the past 5 years or so.
I think it's discontinued, but I see refurbs online for under $1K.
