Instead of doing a format and reinstall why dont you try doing a restore back to a date when my search wasnt infecting your computer programs/accesories/system tools/restore this might get rid of it...

Ther is now "better" one my advice would be to try as many as you can (linux + windows) and find the os that you like and is best suited to your needs

if your router is set on dhcp as according to the manual 1st reset it then try to connect if this fails try to telnet to your router internal address and ping a computer on the internet eg ping...

I Guess the lesson to be learned is if you have kids teah them how to be hackers so they dont end up script kiddes and if you dont have kids your life will be easier with out them :)
