Did you try booting another pc from the same disk? And like Synful said... I'd check the bootpriority or see if you need to press a key to boot from cd (like a Windows CD would ask you).

I haven't had any problems with Nero. I don't use it all that much either tho, which helps :P
I use DVD Decrypter for all my ISO creating DVD burning needs... I only use Nero when I have some...

To answer a question you asked earlier...
Since you were able to setup the VPN from different wireless networks I don't think that NAT would be the problem. I wouldn't expect every open wireless...
