I think linux have a built in firewall. Just go to console and type "tinyfirewall" .
A friend of mine from this site helped me get started and gave me this links...

I think he wants a step by step gnome installation or how he can install it because his redhat box doesn't have graphical interface.

I think they can only crash your yahoo messenger but if you logged on java browser or use chat 2.0 (www.yahoo.com)then you
won't get booted.
