I'm not totaly sure, but I remember reading somewhere (i think it was Slashdot.org) there was a way to block ads from appearing by adding a portion of the address of the banner link to your hosts...

What IRC Client are you running? Read _what's your script, Jack?_
I don't know of the Default mIRC client being able to do that, but perhaps another client (such as pIRCh or BitchX) may be able...

If you have the money or don't need the program for very long... (unless you can... uh... borrow it for an extended period of time), you can download a 30 day trial version of Macromedia's Authorware...

Might try to find a file in the C:\windows> directory called LMHosts and input the same stuff that you would put into what you put into the Hosts file. See if this works for you.

I've read this article earlier and there is one main problem I have with it:
It just states that attacks have gone up on linux.
Are these successful attacks? Are these attacks in General? ...

BEFORE you format your C: Drive.
Are you using a boot disk that was created with Win98 SE? If so, there's an easy way to put on the Command.com files again and make the C: drive bootable once...
