That's a separate department and if they don't want their degausser, I'll gladly take it.
Of course. For starters? Get your circulars & mandates into the hands of the people that need them. Like...

Nihil, I work at one of the departments audited for the drives sent to surplus.
Without getting into too much detail, I can tell you a few things.
It wasn't fraud. It was poor planning,...

I don't understand how productivity loss isn't sufficient enough to warrant attention.
From a security standpoint, these users are introducing unmoderated internet into the workplace. If you...

So what if Norton uses up system resources. Stop being a bunch pf pansies.
Here's what I did.
Added 100 module slots,
Installed 800GB of RAM,
And bolted a 250cc, 600MPH leaf blower to the...

Just because you can do something doesn't always mean you should.
In this particular case, I think discretion would have been the better part of valor.

I don't necessarily blame these AV vendors for not being able to clean some of the malware floating around. It usually takes 2-3 products to fully clean out the polymorphic malware. I just feel that...

I'm currently running SEP on 150+ nodes. It looks pretty, and sounds great in theory but in the end, I wind up manually cleaning the more persistent malware.
Specifically sited was Antivirus...

NetBIOS, FTP, File Sharing, Telnet, WSUS Servers, Symantec Servers, ICMP, all standard Server <-> Client Domain Traffic
I was thinking of (3) Fortinet 80c hardware devices at each of the...

Hey guys. I've been researching the snot out of this and I'm looking for some advice.
I'm managing 3 offices over a slow link. It's a T-1 but, we're sharing so much bandwidth, we average between...

Nope. The other way around. Local GP will be processed first. Then Domain Policy will overwrite those settings.
Hmm. I would create another OU & block GP inheritance on that OU.

Unfortunately, No. In fact, I think this computer might be a lemon. We have another GX620 that's performing fine with the exact same setup. Initially, BSOD's were being caused by a video card....

Sometimes it helps to get down & dirty with these Optiplex machines. I have a GX620 that's BSOD'ing once a week. The best tools I've used are the Windows Debugging Tools. ...

One other thing. If you're using SSL, you might want to check the server certificates.

You suck! I'm stuck with (3) 2003 Servers and no budget dammit. I also heard that 2008 has a nice NAC option. Is this true? I was hoping to extend my control over machines joining the domain.

Looks like some MD5 mixed with RadioGatún and some SHA-1. I also notice a smattering of WHIRLPOOL and Tiger2. Looks like you have some work ahead of you.

The Monitoring Network? It must sit right next to the W.O.P.R. ::hide-beh
Well I have no need for it. I already have an array of rogue Russian satellites monitoring all my financial transactions....

I'm actually a bit surprised by this. WSUS is free of charge & you would think your management would love that. On top of that, this program pretty much runs itself. You setup the initial parameters...

I'll second WSUS. I've been using it for a couple years with few problems. It really helps organize the patching process as well as enforcing compliance. You may want to brush up on your Group Policy...

I think the whole idea of providing not-so-obvious answers to these secret questions is a good work around for the "Forgot-my-password" service flaw.
I think it's my Gmail account that provides...

Yep. Does that kind of stupidity even qualify as skiddie?
Yep again. I have used the very same proxy this dope used, except I actually read the privacy policy. This kid probably thought because...

If she did know, then I agree. Which would put her partially at fault.
That's what I'm thinking as well. Now what about Yahoo running a story about an old hack? I'm still convinced this dopey...

I don't think anyone deserves to have their email hacked regardless of what it's used for. She put faith in a flawed system. As they say, hindsight is always 20/20.
So, whose really to blame...
