Well I can't very well help you if you don't share the info that you do have.
What is the make and model of the motherboard ?
What is the bios string ?
What version bios are to trying to upgrade...

you need to get the bios from the motherboard manufacturer.. no ifs ands or buts.
if you don't know who the maker is, you can find out from the bios string.

yeah it's commonly suggested not to install win98se or ME after xp is installed ..as nihil has said. but folks have done it and (again as nihil has said) you would need to use a third party partiton...

I run multiple AV's.. I just only keep one actively running..
I love kaspersky.. fairly low overhead.. I also run f-prot and avg.
norton and mcafee, I threw them out ages ago.
