good evening ,
i have a linux printer server on a windows lan.is there any way to come up with a password prompt everytime i want to print a document from a windows client?i use fedora core4.only...

well as soon as there isnt an obvious solution, i can provide u with one .
if u install win98 on the printer server, then u will come up with a pass everytime you want to print from a client....

no active directory guys.
just a registered domain.its actually an internet cafe.so i did disabled the simple file sharing and i finally got the security tab.yes i also use ntfs.

are you sure man?i have never heard o f something like that before.linux is a whole operating system just like windows.you can't have windows on a floppy!maybe it was lilo or linux start up disk.

are you running a firewall?if not check out if the win xp firewall is running in the backround.if yes disable it.then try again!

i think that by using partition magic things would be much more easier for him.i mean he is a newbie just like me and it is better having your disk partitioned before you try installing linux.
