Well .. the deal is on the cards and only some informed sources have disclosed it according to CNN.com. No news from any of official sources of M$ or AOL. AOL is compelled to look for an investor...

Well... Given the fact that all the nodes encrypt the msgs and send it across to other node.. Each node only knows about the node which sent it the packets and to whom it is sending.... Also in TOR...
