    Need Help setting up Linux

Before you tear me to pieces I will say it to satisfy you -

I am a Linux uber-newbie. (but hey I hace to start sometime )

    Situation:

I want to set up my computer to run as a gateway/firewall for my LAN. (200 MHZ, 96 Megs Ram, 2.4 gig hard drive, 3com NIC.)

I want to be able to share internet access to my other 2 Windows PC's with the comp acting as a firewall/gateway. I have DSL and it is currently plugged into the uplink port of my LAN Hub. It is working to share the access, but I want more security than I have now.

I was looking into using Red Hat Linux (the newest one) because it has some nice GUI's. Any comments, suggestions, or help would be greatly appreciated.

buy another nic (3com work great) and put the 'firewall' inbetween the DSl & the Hub, that #'d make most sense, you'll also get an improvement of you include a proxy such as squid.
There's loads of great howto's out there on dual nic's 7 firewalling, go and find one then try it out.

u might wanna try ProFTP.... I used it last I had 2 make an FTP, it works like a charm and there shouldn't be any security holes in it.
