When a website is cracked or defaced, usually the attacker has found some vulnerability that gives them the ability to send commands to the system and have them accepted. They then will replace the pages on the webserver with something that they made themselves, usually a boast of some sort.

As for getting into the server, it depends. Is the server an FTP server? Does it have a telnet port running? What system does it use as a webserver (Apache/IIS 4, etc.)

Since I'm not about to become an accomplice to computer crime, I'll do the next best thing... I suggest you get Hacking Exposed from your local boostore and give it a read.

I wouldn't recommend reading that, they provide the same stuff you can get for free off the net. Try astalavista, I believe hackingtruths also has soem good info on that.

Yeah. Also, Google [www.google.com] is a great search engine for anything you could possibly want to find on the internet... use it!

google uses over 7000 computers installed with Red Hat Linux installed. Google is the fastest search engine ... LINUX RULES

Windows does not have enough free memory to run this program.

I will never intentionally abuse this board. However, when adding AntiPoints please be a man/woman and leave your name so we can discuss why you did so. I shall also leave my name on all points i send. Thankyou.
