I agree with Rewandythal. the 7th Sphere is very good scanner.

i have used Netscan tools, Pulse, Lopht.
Havent tried 7th Sphere yet though.

I like nmap and nessus for *nix. I used to like SAINT until it went commercial. I like nmap for quick and dirty, but nessus is a little more aggressive for those long intense jobs.
