    The three files to look at (under win98) are..

    C:\LOGO.SYS --> for startup screen
    C:\WINDOWS\LOGOW.SYS --> for whait for shutdown screen
    C:\WINDOWS\LOGOS.SYS --> for shutdown screen

    There used to be some good sites for ready made replacements one of which is..
    http://petra.fns.uniba.sk/Archive/NONAGS/winlogos.html

    If you do a search for these files or startup and shutdown screens you will find more.
