    Unhappy i need help!

    hi!
    i'm having problems with my comp again....it keeps on freezing, gives me a blue screen and i can't connect on the internet... i downloaded zone alarm today but when after i deleted it.. it gave me this massage after restarting my computer.

    -cannot find a device file
    -windows registry or system.ini file refers to this device file, but
    the device file no longer exist
    - vsdata95.vxd

    can someone teach me how i can fix it?

    i'm planning on deleting all the files then just re-install windows98
    but i'm scared because i haven't done reformatting before and i might messed up my computer even worse... but if it's easy to reformat a computer..please teach me!!

    re-install zone alarm (if you can get the computer up), and try UN-INSTALLING it this time. You can't delete a program thats registered with the system, it must be removed and unregistered by the system.

    If you've been deleting things, your better off reformatting your HD and starting over.

    make sure your computer can boot from the cd og get an install floppy first.

    ok thanks man...my comp is working again..i did what you told me....

    can you teach me how to reformat everything? and i have a question..if i reformatted my computer..would the other drives get deleted? THANKS!!

    to deleteing all of the contents of a drive, for example drive "C" you should go to a DOS promt and type:

    c:\format /q/s/u c:

    this will delete all off the drive C and only drive C.

    also I have some tips when u see a death blue screen (the microsofts logo :

    1.click on start then type "sfc.exe" .......................
    2.go to a dos promt and type "scanreg /fix "
    for example : c:\scanreg /fix

    excuse me for short explaination !

    Suggestion

    I suggest getting Norton Utilities 2001. Its very good! I use it always. No problems with it. Try to buy it or download it from any warez site.

    Yeah, I Had that same problem. It's all ZA's fault.
