Post FIle truncation from ux to ms

I've noticed some warnings from various sites on downloading files meant to run on ux to a msoft box (of whatever version os) and though I've not had problems - have any of you some insight as to this issue?

    Question

    Er, thx VK.

Let me clarify a bit as my first post may have missed it. (athough that was an interesting link) I am referring to file truncation, not filename truncation. On occasion, it seems that an m$ box will report the file as shorter (smaller) than original. Most of the time it still works on ux host when uploaded from server.

scenario: dl from ux host onto ms host. upl now to other ux host for file use.

You see the same thing happening when copying from FAT16 or FAT32 to NTFS.

NTFS uses better allocation and therefor it could be depending on the file size and type that you win about 20% space with NTFS partitions comparing to FAT partitions. (It has to do with maths and block/cluster size)
Unix and Unix alike also have this thing happening.

Indeed, however: with uploads some file types could become screwed up due to the connection type (ASCII or Binary).
