hmm...
What ISP are you using?????
Many of them today deny outbound SMTP, so, you must use their SMTP servers. That may be why you are getting timeouts all the time...
I know that earthlink does this, and a few others I know of as well, but I cannot remember their names right now.....

IchNiSan, are you saying earthlike allows or disallows smtp traffic that isnt from their server?

Anti-Spam
Before you go too far looking for another SMTP server.....
MOST ISP's demand that only their clients may use their
SMTP server. (adopted a few years ago to prevent spam)
There are still a few 'open' SMTP servers if you look hard enough.
Is there a reason you cannot use your ISP's SMTP server ?

Go to www.softhome.net and open a pop3-account. Then you can use their SMTP server as well. It's free. Maybe yoy can use it without appltying as well. Whjo knows? The address is mail.softhome.net.
Some ISPs block the SMTP port to prevent spamming. A workaround to this is to use port 25000 instead of 25. Apply :25000 at the end of the address like this: mail.softhome.net:25000. In some email-clients there will be other ways to choose port. In outlook you can choose it somewhere in the settings.
