if you really concerned, theirs isp's like the christian network that make all the "appropreate settings" in their proxy for you. including news groups and mail, all for the price of your internet connection(under $20).

of course the parents can always moniter their kids like their supposed too.
Bukhari:V3B48N826 “The Prophet said, ‘Isn’t the witness of a woman equal to half of that of a man?’ The women said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘This is because of the deficiency of a woman’s mind.’”

Only someone without kids would say that. Anyone with kids knows it's just not possible. It's like Communism. Fine in theory but a little difficult to put into practice...

    Anyway, I appreciate evreyone's replies.....

Kids don't get enough credit these days. Are we talking about protecting an innocent kid from something he doesn't know exist or from something he might want to check out? Cause if this kid wants to, he can figure out how to disable protection.

Example: My not very computer-savvy neighbor wasn't yet in 6th grade before he had stolen his dad's AOL account that had the protection settings for the whole family in order to disable the settings and go look at porn.

How hard would it be to close something as NetNanny either?
    Why am I still here?

What are you talking about? You think that a 7 year old boy is naive because he doesn't know about "deep anal action" or "The best of beastiality"....Come on now....

Anyway, thanks again. I appreciate all of your replies...

You can always use a firewall box or hardware router / firewall and block certain sites / IP's
Or you can edit your lmhost file... enter the IP's you don't want them to visit and reroute them to a local 'warning' page. However this method would be very time consuming cause you have to know the forbiden sites yourself, edit the lmhost file.

Perhaps a good talk with your kids is a better solution. Make clear agreements, and trust each other. Perhaps this is naive but it teaches responsibility, still a filter could be usefull cause the 'dirty' pop-ups show up at decent sites too. (IMHO)

My mistake, horrible word choice. But I was wondering what age group we were talking about protecting. Cause the terms all come when you get out of elementary school and that's when NetNanny, etc. becomes useless.

That's kinda what I was looking at, although it's alot of work. There's a hell of alot of IP's out there that would need to be blocked.....

I've found a freeware tool that does what I want (for the moment!). It'll only be useful untill they discover the wonderful world of keyloggers though..

If anyone's interested it's called "WeWeb" and I found it at WebAttack.......

    Thanks again.....
