    Recourcehacker

    Hi all,

Anyone ever tried to get them damn bitmaps inside win9x apps changed..
    or re-language apps...

this is the tool for you..

makes it able to easily adjust most simple windows apps (even explorer.exe)...

    http://www.rpi.net.au/~ajohnson/resourcehacker/

I just stumbled upon it and thought i'd let u ppl share...

I mostly run linux.. but this app makes it easy to adjust restricted parts of windows or windows (msvc++) apps.

    Very cool.
Mankind have a great aversion to intellectual labor; but even supposing knowledge to be easily attainable, more people would be content to be ignorant than would take even a little trouble to acquire it.

    Thumbs up

i've tried this program before. it lets you get the bitmaps, icons, and other stuff from .exe, .dll files. it even lets you change the strings in a program and compile the script.

Its a pretty good program.... to change the startup screen of win xp u need 2 palettes to make the image viewable. You have to use select one to make the image viewable. Then when you are done you need to change it back with the other one. They are both attached.

You want to change the BSOD color? It's in c:\windows\system.ini, at least for older OSes. I don't know the codes to change by heart. And you can use ansi.sys for handy effect in DOS windows (not XP) to add color to the prompt.

    Edit:
The color codes for the BSOD in w9X machines can be found here.
