    Internet's New World Order

World governments will have direct input into internet technical policies in a radical shift by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Read it here.

thanks for putting this up. i heard this on the radio the other night. (yes, i listen to radio!). although i couldnt get the full story.

one question though. if this tragedy happens will hacking/security sites be in danger of getting logged or monitored (yeah! like they arn't now) by the FBI (****ing bastards incorporated) and the CIA (i havent thought of a name about this one yet.??)

    anyways, thanks for posting.

Government Input = Less personal privacy and freedom, more censorship and bureaucracy...

well... this topic is similar to many other topics we have talked about. the loss of security is always on our mind. the only thing i question at this point is, what loss of freedom. do we really think that we aren't being monitored? i think not. even if they didn't have a program doing it... do you not think that there aren't plants on every hacker forum... that there aren't people who's sole purpose is to monitor computer users. this issue spans even beyond that. do you think that when you have a phone conversation that the person on the other end is the only one that hears it? I say no. I think that our security was sacrificed long ago, with out our knowledge. Slowly, the truth will seep out, with new laws to comprimise privacy till eventually none is left. sad but true. in this day and age, an age of technology, there are very few freedoms that are not capable of being comprimised. i highly doubt that any government agency would let their said abilities go to waste. in other words, if they have the capacity to do it, they will. and i believe they have that capacity.

Freedom of choice, perhaps. The freedom to decide for ourselves what is and isn't appropriate viewing material. IMHO the last thing we need is any Government having an increase in direct input into internet technical policies.

my point was, do we even have that freedom.... i think all of this is monitored at least on some level. i think government organizations already watch what we view and log it. possibly even limit it.
