the third edition is great for newbies, but it doesn't go that indepth. if you really want to get hardcore, get the specialized hacking exposed books like, for windows 2000 and linux. those tech you a lot more. this series is great! even though there isn't much on the windows 9X os.

I got the linux edition of that book... its not the best book out there, but its definately not the worst. Worth the buy if you have nothing else to read
