    C++ is good to know, but not required. You can always learn Assembly and you're background in Java can help you get started on C/C++ in Unix. I actually learned Assembly before I did C, and it helped to teach me alot of how everything works together.

    i'd go with c++. c is a great thing to know...very powerful...but outside of kernal hacking there really isn't anything you can do with it that you can't with c++.

    If there’s one language to learn c++ is it. The best part about c++ unlike VB is that you can program for a whole range of OS's.
    Its not software piracy. I’m just making multiple off site backups.

    If you're planning on being an auto mechanic, no, you probably
    won't need to learn C or C++
    I came in to the world with nothing. I still have most of it.

    I'd suggest learning both C and C++...start with C though. C was the first language i learned and it wasnt difficult at all. so it shouldnt for you either, especially since you already know a few languages already.

    If you learn C then C++ will be alot easier for you to learn,guaranteed.
    After you learn those two you should learn assembly and perl.
    With those 4 languages you will be able to land a very lucrative job offer
    somewhere.
    I just started learning perl ,it's a scripting language but it's one of the best
    IMHO. Perl is really great for scripting,the things that you can do with perl
    are really awesome.

    Programming is great it builds character and most definatly teaches you to have patience
    because if you dont have any patience you need to stay away from programming.
