thankyou irc gods for having a zillion servers that never go down! i taught all my friends about it who didn't already know and thatway I can avoid dealing with msn and yahoo...although, much to my chagrin, aim is still a necessary part of my life.

MSN was down in my area for a few hours all the msn junkies in my class were going through withdraw.
Symptoms of msn withdraw
-Pale complexion
-Paranoia
-Shaking with white foam coming for mouth (only in extreme cases)
Its not software piracy. I’m just making multiple off site backups.

If you use a dial-up connection and run a software firewall, sometimes outside applications get a bit buggy...I have experienced apparent MSN Messenger(and even AntiOnline) denials of service due to the overload on my firewall because my dial-up connection can barely handle the traffic...
Just a thought...and as a suggestion, if you use a dial-up, don't open up apps and windows hand over fist, it'll only create frustration for you...

No, I actually thought about that but it wasn't like an area within cities. It was most of the northeastern Usa that couldn't be connected and was disconnected from the server.

server upgrade...that's my only thought...M$ is busy upgrading all of its online resources(.NET) to new programming(C-Sharp), so you probably just tried to get in during downtime...
