I'm all for making things more secure, but wouldn't it just be easier to use sftp? Openssh is a piece of cake to install, and easy to work with. Now I'll admit, I don't know of any graphical ftp tools that work with sftp, but I'm sure there are some out there. I've just never looked for them because I've never really had a need for them.
Don't get me wrong, I think the idea is good. Anything that makes security easier for the layperson gets two thumbs in my book. It just sounds like a little more effort to set up correctly than sftp.
