    Question Help on Free Forum

I'm creating a website and I want to include a forum. Do you guys know any good forums that are free of charge? Or maybe even better, profide me with a guide of some kind to create my own? I have looked at Google (before you tell me to ) and found a couple of them but I wanted some advise from you guys instead of all those sites that have the only intention to promote there own forum.

    Thanx

Creating your own is pointless unless you need to and have lots of time on your hands.

Good forums built in PHP include:
    phpBB
    openBB
    Phorum

I've used phpBB and openBB on my local computer, both seem pretty stable and reliable. I prefered openBB, but version 2 of phpBB is in beta as I write this, I've seen it in action and it looks very promising. I can't say anything about Phorum personally because I haven't used it, but from what I've heard it's pretty good.

There are also forums written using CGI/Perl, here my expertise wanes slightly. Never used any of these but here goes:
    wwwboard
    ikonboard

There are, of course, dozens more free and paid forums out there, including ready made ones like EZ Board, but the above are the most well known and tested that I can vouch for.

    Hope this helps.

I think it rocks.. but then again, who am I?

(there is also a pure cgi-version available in case Php with MYSQL is not your taste)

if you are curious check out : http://www.yabb.info/community/
(well there you can also see the forum at work but keep in mind that nearly everything is possible)
