It's quite interesting from a historical perspective. The author gives a straight out acount of events which relies on lots of facts and figures. There isn't much of a creative slant given to the content. Most of the text focuses on AT&T and the phone phreaking community. There isn't too much information on "computer hackers" by comparison. But it's still a good read that includes some interesting insights on the ideas and politics around at the time.
Here's the html version if anyone's interested.

You can also get a text version from: Wiretapped.
If you can't follow the link, FTP to ftp.wiretapped.com, then make your way to the /sd3a/security/info/books folder and download the file 'bruce-sterling--the-hacker-crackdown.txt'.

Sorry, I don't have a scanner...
The cover is red in colour, there's an old desktop computer.
In the monitor there's a man covering half of his face with his jacket..
