Programmer codes
Ok I dunno if this applies to mobiles (cell phones) outside of the UK but our phones have certain operator codes - these codes do different things like 2 I have found
*#06# brings up some sort of serial number for ur phone
*#62# brings up your voicemail fwding number
does anyone have anymore of these codes or any idea what use they are to the average mobile user? Even any wee neat tricks u can do with them hehe

not operator codes...
IMO these codes aren't operator codes but it's just special codes that's are included in every phone. For example *#06# - after typing this you will see IMEI code of phone - IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a unique 15-digit code used to identify an individual GSM mobile telephone to a GSM network.
The number consists of four groups that looks this:
IMEI = TAC + FAC + SNR + SP
nnnnnn--nn-nnnnnn-n
TAC - type approval code
FAC - final assembly code
SNR - serial number
SP - spare

Did some digging on phone codes. Note that some of these codes have unpredictable effects. You can damage your phone if you don't know what you're doing.

Enhanced Full Rate will give you much better sound quality when you enable it. The new Enhanced Full Rate CODEC adopted by GSM uses the ASELP (AlgebraicCode Excitation Linear Prediction) compression technology. This technology allows for much great voice quality in the same number of bits as the older Full Rate CODEC. The older technology was called LPC-RPE (Linear Prediction Coding with Regular Pulse Excitation). Both operate at 13 kilobits.(but you take up more space on the network, so they can charge you more) - Talk-time is reduced with about 5%
