    Programmer codes

    Ok I dunno if this applies to mobiles (cell phones) outside of the UK but our phones have certain operator codes - these codes do different things like 2 I have found

    *#06# brings up some sort of serial number for ur phone
    *#62# brings up your voicemail fwding number

    does anyone have anymore of these codes or any idea what use they are to the average mobile user? Even any wee neat tricks u can do with them hehe

    Post not operator codes...

    IMO these codes aren't operator codes but it's just special codes that's are included in every phone. For example *#06# - after typing this you will see IMEI code of phone - IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a unique 15-digit code used to identify an individual GSM mobile telephone to a GSM network.

    The number consists of four groups that looks this:

    IMEI = TAC + FAC + SNR + SP
    nnnnnn--nn-nnnnnn-n

    TAC - type approval code
    FAC - final assembly code
    SNR - serial number
    SP - spare

    Thanx to IMEI operators could place mobiles on special lists - there is a white, grey and black list (at least in our republic I'm not sure how it is in other countries but it should be similar).
    White list - list of every mobile manufactured
    Grey list - list of mobiles that are in some way damaged
    Black list - list of mobiles phones that has been stolen...
    Mobiles which are listed on black list should be blocked by operator. Problem is that IMEI can be easily changed so black lists are becoming needless.

    But to the codes - IMO (and in this case it is very important that this is ONLY my opinion) these codes aren't useful for anything funny. With this codes you could normaly access thing that you could also access from phone manu. Advantage of this codes is that every phone should have the same codes - so if you get someones phone to your hand and remember some codes from your old one you could do things faster...

    Example - you want to block everyone to call from your phone abroad - so instead of looking into the menu of phone you just put this -
    for activation - *331*blocking code of your phone OK
    for deactivation - #331*blocking code of your pohone OK
    to be honest I never tried this so try it at your own risk

    Some of the other codes could be found here. So good luck

    Did some digging on phone codes. Note that some of these codes have unpredictable effects. You can damage your phone if you don't know what you're doing.

    *#06# for checking the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) Information you get from the IMEI:

    XXXXXX XX XXXXXX X

    TAC FAC SNR SP

    TAC = Type approval code
    FAC = Final assembly code
    SNR = Serial number
    SP = Spare

    *#0000# To view Software Version.

    *#746025625# [*#sim0clock#]
    Checks if the sim clock can be stopped. Sim clock stop is a kind of stand-by mode which will save battery time. This code doesn't work with software version 4.59.

    *#92702689# [*#war0anty#] takes you to a secret menu with 6 choices:

    1. Displays Serial Number.
    2. Displays the Month and Year of Manufacture (0997)
    3. Displays (if there) the date where the phone was purchased (MMYY)
    4. Displays the date of the last repairment - if found (0000)
    5. makes you capebel of transferring user data if you have the gear for it

    #3370# - Enhanced Full Rate Codec (EFR) deactivation. It will automatically restart.
    *4370# - Half Rate Codec activation. It will automatically restart
    #4370# - Half Rate Codec deactivation. It will automatically restart
    xx# - xx position in Phone Book

    Enhanced Full Rate will give you much better sound quality when you enable it. The new Enhanced Full Rate CODEC adopted by GSM uses the ASELP (AlgebraicCode Excitation Linear Prediction) compression technology. This technology allows for much great voice quality in the same number of bits as the older Full Rate CODEC. The older technology was called LPC-RPE (Linear Prediction Coding with Regular Pulse Excitation). Both operate at 13 kilobits.(but you take up more space on the network, so they can charge you more) - Talk-time is reduced with about 5%

    Half Rate will give you bad soundquality, which gives the serviceprovider the opportunity to have more calls on the network, and you might get a lower charge from them. - Will give you 30% longer talk-time.
