    No oops, the router has ICMP turned off. You know what happens if you get too many pings, right? I guess JP doesn't want that to happen.

    but why does the Locate IP program that JP just set up give AO a 10. ip and say it is in California?

    Hey, it says my IP addy is in Pennsylvania which is a far cry from California, last time I checked. I always love those locator scripts.

    Doh... yeah, I think I was asleep when I posted that - sorry folks. No UDP through the router... or ICMP for that matter. Probably a good thing... guess it kinda "threw" me a little sending back !X rather than just simply dropping the packets.

    Well, I'm not sure about why the IP addresses are sometimes wrong, but I can explain the 10.*.*.* addresses. Since the 10 network is a reserved address range, it shouldn't resolve to anything really. But if you do a whois lookup of 10.*.*.*, you's see it's registered to IANA as shown below. Thus, the whois database returns California for any 10 net address.
