    I'd say you should try Pascal or C to begin with.
    Pascal ain't used much (or at all) anymore but it is a very easy language that introduces many concepts used in other languages.
    Try a programmers heaven for any info you need.

    Also here is IMHO a very good introductary C tutorial.
    If you don\'t learn the rules nobody can accuse of cheating.

    Got to download.com or tucows.com, and do a search for C,
    there is a free C Ebook that you can download.

    if you are really new to programming you might want to start with HTML.
    though it is not a programming language bu a markup languague, it is fun to learn and will help you get started thinkin like programmers think

    English is always a good language to start with...

    Anyway. C or C++ are usualy a good start. Python seems to be fun so far. I just staarted messing with it.
