    I think that's a misnomer, since, technically, Linux is a BSD-like kernel... as are OpenBSD, FreeBSD and NetBSD... not to mention BSDi and others.

    It has never passed up Linux it whas around way before Linux (it's 20 years old)
    The only reason the MacOS x sells is because it's Unix in a baby interface with nice (l) users utilities like click n run and plug and play.

    Guys its a MAC statistic. Just like this, if you read about a year or two ago, they said Macintosh was the #1 selling computer Brand during Christmas. Ok now think about this, if you read further you'd read that 90% of all consumer PC sales were of the x86 type and 10% MAC. So say 100 computers were sold...10 of those Were Macintosh. Out of the other 90, they were like Gateways, DELL, IBM, Compaq, EMachine, Sony, and clones etc. It's just statistic hype!

    Statistics are always so fascinating... You can give someone an entirely accurate statistic and give them the totally wrong impression. Their statistic here probably is similar to the example Louie gave. They probably sold more versions of their OS than any other individual linux distribution. That's because Mac users HAVE to buy it. The rest of us download the ISO's and burn our own CD's so we don't drive the numbers up.

    Some more statistics, over 90% of all desktop computers run on WinTel, less then 5 percent runs on Mac.

    Technically not so. Linux strives for POSIX compliance. Read the Linux README file to find out in detail.
