I've looked around for an ad-killer for Linux, because I've used Proxomitron for Windows for a while now and wanted something similar on my preferred platform. I came up with SwiftSurf, a great little app that can be configured to remove all ad content. Just add the websites you want to filter out to a textfile included in SwiftSurf, and start up the proggie. Then set your browser to use a localhost proxy on port 8080. Easy-peasy, no more ads! And of course it's free!
