It may be an anon proxy server. However this may just be for http and not ftp. Not all anon proxies are truly anon.

As far as it seeing your proxy servers IP. This is what it is supposed to do. It will show the proxies IP instead of yours. This is what you want.

If you think you can hide the proxies IP. Nope. It don't work that way. Ya gots to have an IP to have communications period.

You can spoof them, hide them, use a proxy etc... But, you have to have it. The good ole' IP addy.....

does that mean there are seperate anon.proxy for http and for ftp.
The test for anon. for the proxy showed that the proxy i was
using is really anonymous as it didnt forward my real ip.
Are there proxies which stays anon. for both http and for ftp.
Is it true that only socks proxy can handle ftp.

    Any help appreciated. thanx

    Kind of...
The only real way to know is to test all the proxies that you put in your "bank".....
Some work only one way, while some work both ways....

Trial and error is what I suggest...

perhaps you havent' enabled the proxy for ftp, chec your settings, you could use the program multiproxy to test them too.
    download it at www.multiproxy.org

I have checked it out with multiproxy.org for anonymity. It stays anonymous for
http but not for ftp. Anyway trial and error as tyger_claw said is the only way i suppose.

    No.
