    ummm, I got a headache now..... nice post, though I don't see a lot of use for most people. Its almost cheaper to buy cables then to make them now..
    I don't know, souleman... I've always felt that a good knowledge of the hardware was key in helping to better understand the software side of it. Then again... I have to admit that I was tinkering with resistors and capacitors as soon as the TI-99/4A came out (taking something like that apart and hearing dad say (as opposed to "What the Hell are you doing?!?!?") "it's not so complicated... Just a bunch of little stuff working together" can leave quite an impression on a kid). I guess I've always had a unique interest in the electronics side of it though, so it may just be me.

    thank you jazzman, its good someone appreciates it, if ppl didnt "tinker" they wouldnt learn, im in the process of making a cable for my nokia mobile phone, so i can download my sms and add some gfx, andthose cables cost quite allot.

    seems a bit much to take in without pictures, I already understand some of the wiring making a baybus and stuff. but thanks for taking the time to show people.

    Thanks Preep, I'm of the school of thought that the more you know the better off you are. While I may not be making my own cables (patch and crossover aside) it's extremely helpful to know proper pinouts becouse you'd be amazed how often I've run across cables that are wrong and you'll save yourself a lot of time just by knowing what should be.

    i had to learn the layout/structure of an rs232 cable in college, and couldnt find anything like that sadly.

    it's a nice list.. but missing one cable that i still use to link up with real old boxes
    either running laplink software or using the old dos interlnk/intersvr commands.
