    I'm Now A "Criminal" (smartfilter)

Apologies if this has already been posted, (I did do a search for a previous post)

Well it's official, I am now a wanted man.

Those nice people at Secure Computing have now decided that I have "criminal skills"

That's right folks, (Not so)Smartfilter now classifies Antionline as "Criminal Skills"

For those of you that don't know Smartfilter is a piece of "Censorware" that runs on proxy servers, and blocks access to sites deemed "unsuitable" for work use etc, and has various categories. "criminal skills, worthless, chat/webmail etc, etc, etc"

Not a major problem for me, as I "rooted" works proxy box a few months ago. just kidding I administer it. But my skills are NOT criminal.

    see for yourself at http://www.securecomputing.com/cgi-bin/filter_where.cgi

Just type in the URL, and enjoy. and while you're at it, request removal if you wish.

for a reasoned discussion on Smartfilter, take a peek at the following URL (Not my Work)

    http://www.sethf.com/anticensorware/...r/gotalist.php

oh well, rant over ... And apologies once again for a duplicate post.

It lets you sugest a catagory change. So maybe if everyone puts computer security they might change it.
Its not software piracy. I’m just making multiple off site backups.

I did - we should get everybody to do it, maybe we can get AO off of their "blacklist".

I went there also. They need to remove us from their filters. "Criminals" my a$$. I wish they would come and hang out. They might even enjoy roasting the "bad" elements with us.

The Register managed to get themselves on someones "filtering" software, and got it lifted.

Bravo to those trying for removal, however I'm not sure adding a new category (computer security) will work, maybe reasoned emails from a few select "computer security" people might do the trick.

I'll send one from work tomorrow, ohhhh, and who controls the software we pay them to provide ... errrrrrrrrm me, so i'll also have a quiet "chat" with our account manager.

Maybe it's no biggie, but i feel slightly miffed about being branded so.

    Regards
