    Cool Virus Updates - June 12, 2002

    Symantec reports on Backdoor.Latinus, which is a Trojan that can log keystrokes and send them to the hacker.

    Symantec reports on W32.Frethem.D@mm, which is a variant of W32.Frethem.B@mm worm that uses its own SMTP engine to propagate via e-mail. It arrives with the subject line "Re: Your password!" and the attachment "decrypt-password.exe".

    Trend Micro reports on VBS_NEMITE.A, which is a VBScript worm embedded in an HTML file that propagates via e-mail. It arrives with the subject line "HI" and the attachment "Syashin3.vbs".

    I auto update norton's, and double check manually once a week as well. LOL I can see why now.

    i get this kind of report on a daily basis..

    but i normally update my virus definitions every 2 weeks..

    Hey sonic,when you said you get this kid of report daily do you mean emailed to you or do you search manually?.If you are subscribed to a mailing list please could i have the link to subscribe to that mailing list?.

    I too would like to have the list. If s0nic has norton however, then it is a list that norton alerts you when new virus definitions are available.

    Well, in that case, your virus protection updates itself until it expires. From then, you need to manually update it.

    i autoupdate all the time but theres always a concern that something Norton has'nt covered and looks ok could cripple you, deligence is required..

    i get them from a mailing list and not from norton.. but i 4got where i registered it since i am registered to dozens of security mailing lists..

    Ditto. I didn't know Symantec had a virus alert thing going on. That's a pretty novel idea. I just went there and signed up. All interested can do the same: http://nct1.symantecstore.com/virusalert/.
