    The separation of Corp. and State

    I'm just curious as to how many AO members feel like I do on the status of our current crop of leaders in D.C.. I've grown tired of lobbyists, backed by big business and special interest groups, buying our elected officials and then pressuring them into passing legislation that is basically in the 'worst' interest of the American people. I am advocating a separation of 'corp.' and state, whereby election funding should come from public monies instead of corporate coffers with strings attached. I wouldn't advocate funding for this plan as a tax increase on individuals, but rather a small increase in corporate tax liabilities. Given that they aren't paying lobbyists to buy congressmen under such a system, they should be able to afford it. What say you, my friends?

    rather then being able to give to an individual or a party moneies donated would be distributed evenly among all cadidates running for a office. (it sound just too socialistic to be but it is a thought, just that a tought) I have been thinking about a new thrid party Constitutionalist Party, where you take a strict interpertation of the consitution and the historical reference of the founding fathers when it was wirtten into all of your patform. And that is what everything is based upon...rather then our current system... Just more ramlbings

    I remember being told in school as a small child that anyone could grow up to be president, but under the current system only someone who is rich with questionable ethics can grow up to be president. I would just as soon see the playing field leveled rather than favoring the wealthy as it does now.

    Well Allen thanks for the post, and yeah Corps are not people yet act like they are. Am sticking by my World Doo Doo day. For those outside the US Doo Doo is well human or animal waste in a polite term in slang. Like I said I don't have a million or several to even run for a counsel member on a city level now days. I can however pay to have farm waste other wise known as fetirlizer moved in a real big truck to the driveway, office, or public entrance cause the stuff has to be dumped somewhere and well let em put it in their gardens. So Sept 30 is about that World Doo Doo day where working folks get together and doniate fertileizer to the milions it takes to run for public office now days. If their gardens are green ours will be...clue is NOT!!! Doo Doo Day Sept 30th World Wide so the working stiff has one day not to wade through it

    If you do this, the major political parties will become state agencies,
    being able to promote their private interests with tax money. Independent
    candidates will find themselves in a catch-22, it being against the law
    to spend private money to run a campaign, and recieving little or nothing
    of public funds, because those already in power will decide who gets the
    public money for their campaign.
    I came in to the world with nothing. I still have most of it.

    Ok then I look to resources, a time when the people that sang music actually had a social benefit to it not for their gain but to make the world better. A few of these people I looked up to not so older then I. Don't think any of them lost that social cause so me I'm off to email a few people, hope I can get past their buffer zone. All of this is upsetting and well make me very sad is not the world I wished or wanted for my own children age 6 1/2 to 27, greed is greed. Funny I've been all over the world and seen the corruption and payoff's hell even spent a few US$ to remove myelf from local stuff. Family ask me is it the same way in the US I could not say no only in the US it is more complex and they have names like PAC's community standing. Complex American terms to do the same thing pay people off to do what I want just like you. Some countries you pay the guy that pulls you over directly for speeding, in the US you pay a local goverment because it is the law but the result is the same, only you don't fault the US and the US cannot see the proverty of your country. Not gonna catch any 22 I'm gonna send a ton of cow manure doniated by my uncle to a driveway or door step on Sept 30 2002 I've had to wade through it all in my life let the big boys and gurls do so.

    To be honest, I never considered making the parties state agencies, NOR WOULD I. As far as I'm concerned, they (as they function under the presnt system) are part of the problem. I'm not saying to abolish them by any means, it's just that they are the main soliciters of funds for their candidates and are a part of the system that needs FUNDAMENTAL change. They do serve as an ideological gathering point for people, which is very important. AGAIN, thats my opinion. I'm not saying it has to be that way. I just want to know how other members of AO feel and what changes, if any, they think could be made to our present system to make life better for all of us.

    Corporation care only about profits. Not because they're inherently bad by themselves, but because they want more profits so their stock goes up. Which depends on earnings, and analysts tell them how much they expect a particular company to make. Which most often leads to layoffs. To please an analysts' projections, and the stockholders. Which are us.

    But I do believe corporations should not be allowed to contribute ANY money/services to a prospective candidate. Today in America, it's gotten to the point where the people that vote really have no say......I think it has to do with the way the system is set up. The two party system needs to go, and all candidates should be given free AND equal air time.
    And I'm done ranting ....

    i think its time we show them how we feel by voting for a party other than the the big 2.

    throw them both out cause a vote for either one is a vote for the same thing anyway.

    Agreed, Tedob. To be honest, I feel that too many people are blinded by the 'party' system. Your vote should always go to the best qualified person, regardless of his or her political affiliation. For that matter, they should get rid of those 'straight party' voting options where one pull of a lever casts all your votes. One should always give each vote careful consideration. Blindly following the lead of others can sometimes lead the flock off a cliff.
