    Kevin mitnick publicity stunt????

ok i read up on blackcode that mitnick is to realese a book for sysadmins and ppl to do do with computer security, and i know that his probation ends in january

##Terms of Mitnick’s three years of probation — which ends in January — require that he keep his hands off all computers, software, modems, cell phones and any devices that would give him access to the Internet. His travel and employment are also restricted##

And he has said he has grew out of hacking

##Since his release from prison, Mitnick has made a living by using his ill-gotten skills as the basis for magazine articles, speaking engagements and a recent AM radio talk show in Los Angeles.
Mitnick swears that he’ll never hack again — but not because prison taught him anything.
“Prison had nothing to do with my rehabilitation,” Mitnick said. “I grew out of my hacking. Now I’m 38. There are no 38-year-old hackers out there.”##

What i was wondering is if mitnick could be encouraged to become an honoury AO member would this encourage some skiddiots(to learn not to do it) and general Pc users to come to AO? to encourage good computer security, as sites like hackers.com encourage blackhat behavor)

I know many of the AO users dont like mitnick, and others because of his so called lack of coding ability, what would u think? would this publicity stunt work to bring the masses to AO to learn, and improve the internet as a whole.

    Yeah, why the hell not..

If he'd like to become a member, I think he could write good tutorials.
I hope he still recognises the ever so spammed and commercially exploited net..

I think that'd depend on the kinda of hacking mentioned..
Nowaday's Hacking is such a negativly loaded word..

I think I am not a hacker, I spend way to little time doing usefull stuff behind a keyboard nowaday's..

"Now I’m 38. There are no 38-year-old hackers out there."
sounds more like an excuse the media would actually buy, than a viable or even truthful reason.

Sure as long as he doesn’t bring hordes of script kidz with him.

Here’s my question who would you want to be a AO member more. Kevin Mitnick or Tsutomu Shimomura (the guy who caught him)?
Its not software piracy. I’m just making multiple off site backups.

Surely the guys who caught him have profiled his 'style' and knowledge, and if a load of info about him and tutorials with his style start popping up, they'll investigate his avoiding of the 'no computers' ban. It'll be hard for anyone to avoid surveilence for the first few months/years (or am I just paranoid? I don't live in the US anyway...but since when has that stopped the FBI? ).

N.B. I know of Mitnick, I don't know exactly what he's done when and to whom.

Never before have I seen a more pathetic plea for uneducated endorsement of illegal activity. HAM radio license revocation?...please. Case of liberal misdirection propaganda. The man is a criminal, and deserves no respect....just as the kids that follow in his muddy footprints deserve none.

He's a criminal, and deserves no sympathy. And before you piss and moan about the propaganda directed against him, make sure you read the 'PLEAD GUILTY' line. No innocent man pleads guilty.

In P.S. Antionline has plenty of technical experts, and doesn't need convicted felons to contribute to it. There are no limits to knowledge, but there are limits to law...respect them.
