Not really. For the normal user linux could be a bit hard to use. Even these Windows like distros take some getting used to. The majority of the public will continue to use windows upgrading cause M$ says it should be.
Amen to that. Linux is NOT ready for the primetime. The learning curve is unreasonable for a normal user, and even the much flaunted open-source-ness doesn't really help the non-programmer-for-a-living end user much when it comes to finding and fixing problems. That, and for people migrating from windows, the whole file organization appears chaotic and disordered, with who knows what in those mysteriously named directories
