    a doubt..
    what actually is tcp\ip protocol
    full form of tcp;ip;
    what do u mean by a protocol?
    where actually is this used?

    OMG, look it up man. Plus there have been many tutorials related to this, check in the tutorials section and find the tcp/ip tutorial. It'll have what you're looking for. Be careful, maybe delete this post, you may get negs for it as it is obvious you did not do a search on this topic.

    TCP is Transfer Control Protocol its a connection oriented service
    IP is Internet Protocol that is a connection less service.
    If u wanna know more about these then do a little research.

    Think of a protocol as a language used by programs comunicating over a network. You web browser, sends http requests to a web server to request web pages, images, songs, exctera... So your web browser speaks a language, http, it uses other protocols but http is most well known. You web browser is a client, and the program at the other end serving your client is the server. Some programs act both as a server and a client, as the can both send requests and replys. So to answer your question, a protocol is basicaly a language or set of rules governing the comunications between two programs over a network.

    TCP/IP is a suite of protocols, its a standard used by the Internet and many privat LANs and other networks. Vsit google and check out the directory listing.
