    Tips for beginners.......

    Greetings fellow AntiOnliners,

I'm new to this security/ hacking game and would like to learn far more about it. Can you Jedi's out there point me in the direction of some descent web resources or offer some pearly words of wisdom??

    Cheers Guys, keep the faith.

I would suggest going to a popular search engine and searching for security and hacking. Here are some sites to get you started.

    www.astalavista.com
    http://blacksun.box.sk
    http://neworder.box.sk
    www.lameindustries.org

    Hope this helps
<chsh> I've read more interesting technical discussion on the wall of a public bathroom than I have at AO at times

Don't ask about how to hack, ask about how to secure, though they are similar, they are very different where AO users are concerned. Plz remember this site is for security. This site was made to help and educate people about computer security, and that is what it does, so if you have a security question, then post it, but if you have a hacking question, you might be better off just leaving it. If you are truly interested in security, there are plenty of IT resources on the web, a simple google search would yield many sites that wield interesting and informative info on how to secure a pc, and the latest exploits. If you want to keep abreast of the latest exploits, (so you can avoid bad software, and so you can make sure you have the appropriate patch) visit packetstormsecurity, at http://packetstormsecurity.nl/ Hope dis helps you out, and keeps you from making some common mistakes

Electrolite > to expand a bit on what khakisrule said, anyone can hack a computer, but it really takes skill to defend it. Oh, and for starters, if you don't have a firewall, download one, you would be suprised how much traffic an average computer sees that the user dosent.
You're not your post count, You're not your avatar or sig, You're not how fast your internet connection is, You are not your processor, hard drive, or graphics card. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of AO

Hey Electrolite, if you want to know more about security and stuff, I suggest you buy this newly published book, "HACKING EXPOSED, 3RD EDITION" You must've heard of it by now or probably have it, but if you havent, its recommend it for advance or novices, its a good book on encountering hackers and securing your PC website etc. It covers a lot of stuff. Round about 37 quid. Anyway Good luck mate.
