I use Linux on my desktop because I use Linux on my servers. It is easier to test on the desktop first. I don't use Linux because I think that KDE or Gnome is better than W2k or XP, Redmond has a better desktop.

I personally have use for Windows and Linux and have a triple boot: Windows 98, Windows 2000 SP3 and Mandrake 8.2 and it serves me very well And no, I do not plan to upgrade to XP when I have Windows 2000.
