My first computer was a TRS 80 CoCo 3, a hell of a opwerful computer when it first came out. The big thing then was a form of BASIC, and MAN was it a frustrator to use.
I'd say if you're getting started nowadays, C++ or VBasic are the way to go.
Anybody know how C# works for newbies? And what are the major differences from versions before this?

AppleSoft II. It was a licensed copy of Microsoft BASIC with graphic routines for the Apple. It was installed in the ROM of my first computer, an Apple II+. I still have the programming manual even though it is twenty years old. Sice then I have learned Pascal, C, C++, Visual Basic, Paradox, FoxPro, and Access. Working on XML and ColdFusion.
