    Camera/shy

Hey everyone. I just wanted to know what your opinions were on Camera/Shy. Read about it here: http://www.cultdeadcow.com/details.php3?listing_id=431

Basically, it's a steganographic tool that allows people in countries where the Internet is censored to few the censored material. The cDc/Hacktivismo folks say that they're human rights activists, and that this tool is a technical solution to the restriction on information that some countries hold on their people.

While I do see how this can serve good for the people in the situation described above, I can see the potential harm it can also cause. What's preventing this kind of tool from falling into the hands of terrorists, child pornographers, and other undesireables? I recall hearing, although I cannot verify this, that the September 11th hijackers communicated with Al Quada using steganogyaphy. Can a tool like this be a threat to national security?

Even if this tool will have noble use, shouldn't there be a better way of lifting the restrictions other countries have? I mean, this tool seems like a work around the problem rather than actually having political dialog and change? Do you think it's the US's job to enforce these kind of changes, or should it keep with it's own business and not re-develop its policies on interventionism? Thoughts?

    Ramzi

Addition: I found Remote_Access_'s thread on this with this news story. Find it here: http://www.antionline.com/showthread...hreadid=232372

But other than just the information about the tool, what possible benefits or threats do you think it poses? And, do you think it's the right way to go about solving problems of oppressive Internet censorship in other countries?

I don't think it will pose much of a threat considering the fact that I can search google and find malisha & extremist groups or you can call them "terrorist" besides censoring things online is only good if you have kids but the whole point of being online is to share info which can sometimes be insightfull or even taboo.

What I don't understand is why the .GOV acts so "SURPRIZED" when peaple stand up agianst being watched and censored as if they are supposed to enjoy being treated like like small children or cattle.
