    AO errors

    I have noticed the last few days AO had been having alot of problems. like new thread's that lead noware like
    http://www.antionline.com/showthread...hreadid=233432 http://www.antionline.com/showthread...hreadid=233420
    both of those are even listed on the main page.

    also a few times (not today, but a few day before that) i have went to a page and it comes up blank. it still has a source it is something like
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"><html><head><title></title></head><body></body></html>

    and a few others i cant remember right now, has anybody else noticed anything like this?

    and since when did AO start having POP-Up adds?

    oh and, some threads have 1 or several replys but no views

    Well for the links you supplied, JP or the moderators have probally deleted them, that's why they don't exisit anymore.
    The blank page you get is probally because the server is no getting the right queries and sending back nothing. (maybe just a bug?)
    Yes i have noticed this before.
    AO now has pop up ads because JP needs to find someway of making money from this site, in order to support the costs of running it.
    I think the one reply but no views problem has been mentioned before. I'm not quiet sure if it's been fixed though.
    Cheers!

    return true; }
    onLoad.windows = beginError;

    well morfius,
    quote-AO now has pop up ads because JP needs to find someway of making money from this site, in order to support the costs of running it.
    This is NOt true, and if i may ask , how did you know that?

    unused> well, Those threads you specify has been deleted and also no longer in AO data base
    also,
    quote -oh and, some threads have 1 or several replys but no views.
    How could this be possible? how can a thread be replied, have some replies without been veiwed? you need to veiw a Thread before reply to it, and as lond as that thread has been veiwed , it MUST be recorded in the data base, has been veiwed. you can check out lots of Threads/posts in here and you will see the Thread starter, #of replies/ and #of veiws, last reply. How many times a thread has been veiwed.
    here is an example, go to the "Disscussion Forum" http://www.antionline.com/index.php?action=forums and select any Thread in der, an example with "Tutorial Fofum "http://www.antionline.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=59 here will will find all the # of veiws, replies,thread starter, last reply, etc.
    So Unused> how can a Thread has a reply and NEVER been veiwed?

    I hope this clear it out

    Ummmm I think thats exactly what he is saying(!?)

    I hope this clear it out
    so no not at all

    Maybe the reason why a thread may appear to have no views but yet when you check it someone has replied is that between the time you see it has no views and then load up the thread the other people could have submitted their replies?

    So infact the thread actually didn't have any replies when you first checked but in the time between you checking and viewing the thread it could recieve some.....

    or something like that

    Well sosodef,
    If you point your browser here (as long as it's around or near the time i'm posting this, and the threads don't go to the second page),
    http://www.antionline.com/forumdispl...?s=&forumid=48
    You'll see that the thread Silicon Graphics Indy Computer currently has 1 reply but no views. Yes it is a bug. Yes it is possible.

    And yes it is true. JP pays for this site out of his own pocket and wouldn't mind some advertising money to help support the site. (he said that in a thread..forgot were it is though.)

    script language=\"M$cript\";
    function beginError(bsod) {
    return true; }
    onLoad.windows = beginError;

    JP has addressed this "no views" item before.. it's not a bug.
    it's just that it takes a while for the database to be updated.

    AFAIK any popups on the site occur because the advertising company makes them. AO outsources the ad-managing, and it is not JP's direct decision to have popups.

    Threads may be inaccessible if they are deleted or moved.
