is hacking child porn sites wrong?

I've seen many hacker anti-pedo groups, and i want to know, is it wrong to hack and takedown a pedo site. I mean they can't run to the FBI, since what they were doing was already illegal. Even if they did, isn't it doing a favor to society? Would you, if you could hack, hack into child porn sites and take them down?

Yes, it is wrong to hack a child pornography site, The correct way to go about it would be to report the URL to the FBI's internet fraud and abuse sector.

The person who made the site could easily take it down and F*** their hard drive up enough that there is no evidence of anything. How long would it take them to get the warrant and stuff, the process could take weeks or months. How many reports do you think they get a day anyways? I'd just as soon get it off the net ASAP.

You asked if hacking a child porn site was wrong, and I answered you with the right way to go about reporting this matter. No matter what you say to justify the feelings you have about this issues is not going to change wether it is right or wrong, and they do not have to prove the subject matter of their website when providing the log files of your attempt to crack their pages.

I say go the third option, snoop out who their internet provider is, or their host, and report it to them, and watch the site get unplugged over night.

I agree with Joey, it is wrong to hack Child Porn sites, you could report to the FBI, and not get in trouble, or you could hack their site, and you get in trouble, I'm sorry but it's true.

See you hack their site, you get in trouble, it stays on the net. Child porn is wrong, yes, but if you report it to the FBI, it's gets taken down, you don't get in **** for hacking a site.

I would justify it if they were doing something sick to children but I would much rather see these peaple go to jail or die rather than wrecking their site just to watch them replace it with another site.

I don't normally like to wade into these kinds of discussions because more often than not it turns into a mine field, but I'm with Joey. Frankly, I'm not convinced you'd really be accomplishing much by hacking them, anyway. It's kind of like playing whack-a-mole.... you take the site down, and then it's back up in a day or two on a new server and a new IP. The right way to go about it is to hand it over to the feds and let them bust it up.
