php "shoutbox" question
My question is this, i would like to create a "shout box/fun pad" type thing on my site that would be similar to the one on http://www.extremefonts.com using php4. I am just learning it all, and thinking, i would create a form, and then use the echo statement, yet how would i force it to show up where I want, such as in a specific table. thanks.

I don't recommend using a remote host. Upload the files you need yourself, by downloading a premade script and altering it to your preferences. That way you can learn what does what, and in the future create your own.
Scroll down towards the bottom, for some really good tagboard scripts:

This is the one I prefer, personally:
http://www.endity.com/board/index.php?act=ST&f=5&t=66
You can see it in action here:

They're very thourough with the instructions, basically you just load it to your host via FTP, make sure to change permissions via CHMOD to 777 on data.dat, and link the board.php file to whatever page you want it on within an iframe, or whatever you choose, setting the custom width and height you desire.
All of the colors can be customized, you can add any modifications you wish, and there's no advertising or downtime on a remote host.

My only problem with the above mentioned is that 777 is a very dangerous setting. Anyone/any group can modify anything that's 777. I'd make it 755 for readability purposes only.
We the willing, led by the unknowing, have been doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much with so little for so long that we are now qualified to do just about anything with almost nothing.

Lots of great links can be found here. Just scroll down a few posts to the ShoutBox section.
