modem detection prob in mandrake
hi ,
i have installed mandrake on my box and it failed to detect my motorola modem , my scaner etc.
what should i do? i have drivers for windows only!

for the modem I'd bet it is a winmodem..
that is always a problem in linux..

Linux realy only has support for external (serial and USB(new modems)) modems.
for the scanner look at SANE http://www.mostang.com/sane/
best experience with SCSI scanners though.. Parrallel port scanners are harder to set up..

look here for device drivers for your modem www.linmodems.org if the device drivers are not there the only other thing i could sugest is an external modem. is it recognizing your modem as a win modem ? or not recognizing it at all?

not recognizing at all , it tell me to send the /proc/* file to bla bla bla and some id's
i have found driver for redhat 7.1 hope it will fit....
